When Edith's temporary housing situation falls through, her friend volunteers her uncle Henry's house. Uncle Henry has just had knee surgery and can't even use the upstairs of his home, Kat promises.
And when Kat informs Uncle Henry that she's sent her widowed friend his way, assuring him that Edith works night shift and that she won't be a bother at all, certain assumptions are made.
By everyone.
Edith thinks she's living with a little old man. Henry thinks he's taken in an elderly widow. And in order to communicate with their opposite schedules, they begin leaving notes on the kitchen counter that grow more and more personal with each exchange.
Henry and Edith are both in their 30s and very much not elderly. While they are getting to know each other through letters, they also keep bumping into each other around town but never getting the other's name. What will happen when they realize the sparks that are flying are actually with their housemate?
I love stories where things keep going hilariously wrong, and Dear Henry, Love Edith definitely kept me chuckling with one mishap and misunderstanding after another. I enjoyed the small town setting and the cast of background characters who kept jumping to conclusions. While I did wish there might have been some good conversations to clear up misconceptions earlier, the zany ride keeps going until you're worried it might be too late. If you like to laugh through a comedy of errors, I'd recommend this book to you.
I received my copy of the book from the author. All thoughts in this review are my own.
