Ten Quotes From "A Christmas Carol"
Dec. 1st, 2020 07:34 amThe Christmas season has arrived! Of course, for some the Christmas season starts Nov. 1st, or even the middle of October. But whether you love Christmas or are a bit of a Scrooge, there's no denying that once the calendar turns to December it's fully and irrevocably the season to be merry and bright.
Speaking of Scrooge, today I thought I'd bring you quotes from Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol. If you've never read this short novel, I would encourage you to find it this holiday season. It's well worth the time to explore the meaning of Christmas with Ebeneezer Scrooge and the three ghosts who pay him midnight visits.
Maybe these quotes will help inspire you to pick it up. 😊
1. "Bah," said Scrooge, "Humbug."

2. "...every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart."

3. "I wish to be left alone," said Scrooge. "Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don't make merry myself at Christmas and I can't afford to make idle people merry."

6. "He went to church, and walked about the streets, and watched the people hurrying to and fro, and patted children on the head, and questioned beggars, and looked down into the kitchens of houses, and up to the windows, and found that everything could yield him pleasure. He had never dreamed that any walk—that anything—could give him so much happiness."
