Today's topic is Settings I'd Like To See More Of, but I thought I'd take it in a different direction and share with you stories set in my own backyard, the lovely Missouri Ozarks. The scenery is beautiful and the people are friendly, making this a heartwarming place to live — or visit in a book. 🙂

Regina Jennings The Ozark Mountain Romance series by Regina Jennings
This is a really fun series set shortly after the Civil War. Each story is filled with unique characters and plenty of misunderstandings. I am especially fond of the second and third books, but all of them are great.

Shepherd of the Hills "The Shepherd of the Hills" by Harold Bell Wright
Undoubtedly the most famous work set in the area, this 1907 novel truly brings the Ozarks to life. The struggle and simplicity of mountain life are on display. Someday I should read his other books set here, too.

Hannah Alexander The works of Hannah Alexander
This husband and wife writing team live in Missouri and have written several medical mysteries set here, including many in the Hideaway series, as well as their Healing Touch series. I've enjoyed all the ones I've read!

Cynthia Herron The Welcome To Ruby series by Cynthia Herron
The small town of Ruby, Missouri, draws you in with its charm and character. There's only one book out so far from this debut novelist, but I look forward to seeing more of Ruby in her upcoming releases.

Love Finds You "Love Finds You In Branson, Missouri" by Gwen Ford Faulkenberry
I've never read any of the Love Finds You books, but I'd be willing to read this one. ðŸ™‚ I'm coming up on 15 years living close to Branson, and it would be fun to see this how well the author conveyed the local culture.
