Three Unpopular Bookish Opinions
Jun. 11th, 2019 12:03 pm
OK guys. I'm here today, but this isn't easy for me. I'm an Ennegram 9, which in short form means that keeping peace is hugely important to me, so I am unlikely to talk about things that are unpopular or controversial. Unless you're a super trusted friend, in which case I'll talk to you about controversial things, but only if you have already said them first. 😉 That said, here are three things which not all book lovers may agree upon, but I don't think they're so far out there as to put me in danger of being unfriended over them. 😜
1. Sometimes the sequel is better than the first book in a series.
I can think of a few instances of this! And even on a rare occasion, I've seen the middle book be the strongest in a set.
2. Sometimes the movie is better than the book.
It's kind of painful to say that, but it's not untrue. Sometimes I believe filmmakers capture the original spirit of a novel and manage to bring it to life in a more understandable way.
3. Not all writers get better as their careers progress.
I can think of a few authors whose debut novels I raved about, and yet none of their following releases lived up to the same magic. Fortunately this is by and large not the case for all, as even my first point attests!
There, that wasn't too bad! Whew! 😉 Find more Top Ten Tuesday posts at That Artsy Reader Girl.
