Who doesn't love a good opening line? It is a truth universally acknowledged that first lines should draw you in right away and set the tone for your story. They're supposed to make you want to dig in and find out more.

In order to choose which to showcase today, I looked through my keeper shelves and did a random selection. Let me know which ones make you want to keep reading!

I have read most of these! I also have The Joy of Falling on my shelf but I have not read it yet.

The Joy of Falling is so good! It's got a lot of deep stuff because of the topic, but it's so well-written and touching.

That's a really great book! It's actually a switched-at-birth story, discovered when a twenty-something takes a "trace your DNA" test. She has to unravel who her biological parents are, how the switch happened, and what to do about her own relationships with the family who raised her, who she's very close to.
